Massage is a scientific method that involves the treatment of superficial areas of the body -that may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels and organs of the gastrointestinal system; with physical, therapeutic and emotional purposes. Etymologically, the word comes from French and its literal meaning is "friction of kneading".
The patient's body is manipulated trough rubbing, kneading, stroking, slapping or vibration which can be structured or not depending of the modality of the massage (There are more than a hundred forms including the Eastern styles that are based on the body’s energy such as Acupressure; and the Western styles that are focused on anatomical knowledge like Swedish massage). The pressure applied is done with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearm, and feet, or employing any of the various mechanical devices.
Kellie Hermann, Licensed massage therapist is available Monday 9 - 5:30pm, Wednesday 3-5:30pm Thursday 2-5:30pm and every other Friday to help with your relaxation needs.

IM is an assessment and treatment tool used in therapy to improve the neurological processes of motor planning, sequencing and processing.
The IM program provides a structured, goal-oriented process that challenges the patient to synchronize a range of hand and foot exercises to a precise computer-generated reference tone heard through headphones. The patient attempts to match the rhythmic beat with repetitive motor actions. A patented auditory-visual guidance system provides immediate feedback measured in milliseconds, and a score is provided.
Over the course of the treatment, patients learn to:
Interactive Metronome trains the brain to plan, sequence, and process information more effectively. Wearing a headset that delivers a computer-generated beat, trainees repeat a series of precise hand and foot exercises. IM’s sound guidance system challenges participants to improve their accuracy as they actively try to match the beat. The IM system then scores their performance: the lower their score, the better their performance.
The treatment is a three- to five-week Interactive Metronome Services program involves 12 or 15 one-hour sessions. By the end of these sessions, most participants experience significant improvement in focus and attention, control of aggression and impulsivity, coordination, language processing, and academic performance.
